Mother health

mother health

In order to improve prospects for the mother and her unborn child, health-care professionals, particularly those who specialize in obstetrics, take the following steps:

▪ They review the patient’s medical history and perform an examination to determine risk and forestall complications that may involve the mother or her developing baby.

▪ They may take blood and urine samples to check for such problems as anemia, infection, Rh incompatibility, and disease. The latter may include diabetes, rubella, sexually transmitted diseases, and kidney disease, which can elevate blood pressure.

▪ When advisable and acceptable to the patient, they may recommend vaccinations for such things as influenza, tetanus, and Rh incompatibility.

▪ They may also recommend vitamin supplements, especially folic acid. When doctors identify the risks associated with individual pregnancies and take the needed precautions—or help the mother to do so—they enhance the prospects of a positive outcome for her and her unborn baby

Pregnant Women and Children are more affected, during the journeys some pregnant women abort while on the run and they do not have an appropriate center for their care. Other pregnant women do not have medical monitoring of the progress of their pregnancy( prenatal consultants , vaccination, treatment of infections during pregnancy, ultrasound monitoring of fetal well-being) all because of the precarious situation of travel said to repeated clashes since 1994.

Children health

Children are the more impacted with consequences of wars and more children are born with neonatal diseases, newborns and infants while they are  in vulnerable or internal displaced families for that they do not benefit from medical follow-up and treatment. In several displaced persons camps in all provinces of the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, children are victims of contagious diseases such as scabies, measles, scarlet fever, chickenpox. Other suffer from acute or a chronic respiratory infections( bronchitis, infants bronchiolitis) and many families are unable to pay for medical consultations, thousands of children die of malnutrition following a lack of insufficient or not diversified. In many villages and in many displaced camps many families do not have access to nearby sources of drinking water and for this reason the highest number of diarrhea infections among is registered.

Providing good health and taking care of infants and children is one of theof the our objectives we take care of children from 0 to 5 years old . Apart from that we provide primary medical assistance to children under 15 years old

NUTRITION

The repeated war and the promiscuity of families in the territory of RUTSHURU has socio-economic consequences on the lives of women and children.  Malnutrition is the most frequent problem encountered in children under 5 years old.  This is how the ARC dispatched its medical team to respond to this nutritional and health emergency which has arisen in this territory.  This medical assistance intervened in the health zone of BAMBO where for 250 children who were consulted, we noted 145 children or 58% who presented a problem of nutritional insufficiency of which 60 presented a co-infection with malaria.
Our team, despite the weak means in our possession, we helped this population in distress.
The ARC and its medical team are launching an alert and asking for help from people of good will to respond effectively to this problem that this population has.
